Walmart customers were sent into a panic after a suspect inside of the store informed them that he had planted a bomb inside. He then told them that they needed to leave before it went off.

The incident took place around 4 PM on January 31, 2021.

Officers quickly responded and found the suspect trying to escape the store during the evacuation process.

The suspect, Jordan Montrey Williams, was arrested and the store was examined by explosives detection canines.

The officers gave the all clear at 7:47 PM.

The community of Oxford is blessed to have the Oxford Police Department, the Oxford Fire Department, the Ole Miss Police Department, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, and all of the Walmart employees. Each department handled the situation effectively and kept our community safe.
